You are not a problem to be fixed.

You’re a human with a deep need to be seen, heard, and loved.

Healing starts here.

Kristen Bredar, CPTSD and OCD therapist Denver

Welcome!

I’m Kristen, a holistic psychotherapist in Colorado.

I support clients with complex trauma, anxiety, and OCD utilizing an approach that honors the wisdom of body, mind, and soul.

Our work together will support you to feel safer, more connected, and empowered, so you can step into the life you long for.

I believe mental health symptoms come from unprocessed pain and trauma, and from living out of alignment with our true selves.

When we are brought to our knees in suffering, life demands us to meet ourselves in a new way, leading us on a path towards healing and wholeness.

In our work together, you’ll experience safety and compassion, where all parts of you are heard and honored.

I’ll walk alongside you as you build resilience and create a life that feels more easeful, joyful, and meaningful.

You feel on edge, disconnected, or like your system just won’t settle. Complex trauma often shows up through survival patterns in the body rather than memories. Healing begins when those protective responses that once kept you safe are met with curiosity and care.

Complex trauma develops in environments of ongoing chaos and threat. Your nervous system learns to protect itself and live in survival mode, long after you’ve left.

Through Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), we’ll move gently and at your pace to regulate your nervous system, release stored survival energy, and rebuild regulation, trust, and connection within yourself.

You’re struggling with OCD and feel trapped in your own mind. You’re stuck in cycles of doubt, fear, and “what ifs” that never seem to stop. You’re questioning your thoughts, your safety, or even who you are, trying to find certainty that never lasts.

I use Inference-Based Cognitive Therapy (I-CBT), a gentle, evidence-based approach that helps you break free from these loops without exposure therapy. This 12-module process helps you rebuild trust in your reasoning, reduce compulsions, and reconnect with your sense of inner confidence. Because trauma often intertwines with OCD, our work also honors the deeper emotional wounds beneath, helping you heal not just the symptoms, but also reconnecting with your Self.

You may be living with fatigue, dizziness, pain, or a diagnosis like POTS, IBS, or chronic migraine. It can feel like your body can’t recover or feel safe. Maybe you’ve tried many treatments, yet the symptoms remain. It can start to feel like your body is against you, or like you’re doing something wrong. Your body isn’t broken. It’s communicating. Chronic symptoms are often signs of a nervous system that has been stuck in survival mode, doing everything it can to keep you safe. It isn’t your fault.

Together, we’ll help your body remember what safety feels like. Using nervous system regulation, somatic awareness, and neuroplasticity practices, we’ll support your system in shifting from protection to repair. My approach blends science and compassion to help you rewire your brain and body toward balance, vitality, and trust, so you can move from simply coping to feeling more alive and at home within yourself.

You feel caught in cycles of worry, tension, and panic - always “on,” but never at ease. Or maybe you’ve swung the other way, feeling numb, foggy, or disconnected, like you’re watching life from a distance. These patterns aren’t who you are, and they definitely don’t mean you’re broken. They’re signs your nervous system has been stuck in survival mode for too long.

Together, we’ll explore what feels stuck or wants to be heard with curiosity, care, and compassion. Using Somatic based approaches, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, and compassion-focused work, I’ll help you regulate your nervous system, resolve inner conflicts, and move toward a more grounded, authentic version of yourself and your life.
